Every morning, the children complete an emotional check in. They have pegs with their names on and they place them on the Colour Monster emotions chart, showing how they are feeling as they arrive at school. If they put their peg on sad or angry, we will check in with them throughout the day and they can choose something to help regulate their emotions from the ‘Calm down basket.’
If they are feeling worried, they can write or draw their emotions and then feed it to the worry monster soft toy who eats worries! The aim is for the children to learn that sharing their feelings can help them feel better, we always aim for the children’s pegs to be on happy by the end of the day.
