Autumn Term

During the autumn term we will be studying another exciting unit from the ‘Cornerstones’ topic resource. The children will learn a variety of different skills including research, planning, innovation and working as part of a team.

This term we will focus on the events of World War Two.

On 3rd October, we will be visiting the 1940’s museum in Swansea Bay. We also have an educational historian coming in on Tuesday 9th to facilitate an interactive workshop with all the classes in year 5/6. He will be bringing a range of resources into school including deactivated weapons.

If you are able to give your time to support us in any of the following areas we would be extremely grateful:

  • Books, posters or memorabilia relating to World War Two.
  • Artefacts – genuine or replica’s, relating to the war effort.
  • Help for making items and preparing the street party. We will also be making individual gas masks and storage boxes.
  • Scrap material suitable for making bunting, wool for knitting.
  • Any people who know how to knit and are willing to pass on their skills to the children would be very welcome.

The unit will culminate in an open day where they will showcase some of their work in a VE Day style street party on the school grounds.
