Late/Absence Procedures

School Absence

If your child is absent from school, he/she will miss out on the learning opportunities prepared for them. It is therefore essential that absences are kept to a minimum.

In accordance with government documentation, if your child suffers from sickness or diarrhoea, they should not return to school until 48 hours have passed since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. This documentation also includes other recommended time frames for a child to be kept away from school according to the illness they have.

If your child is ill, please inform the school on the first day of absence by telephoning

01656 815780.

Lateness
When pupils arrive late, they miss out on essential instructions given at the beginning of the lesson. Your child may also feel awkward arriving to the classroom when everyone else is settled. When one pupil arrives late, it disrupts the entire class and the teacher – everyone’s education is compromised.
